United Airlines has launched a new app for iOS 7 platform.

United Airlines has introduced a new mobile app specifically intended for the iOS 7 platform on Apple iPhone and iPad devices. United (NYSE: UAL) said the new app has a touch-friendly design with easier and quicker functionality.

While designed to function best on iOS 7, the new app also works with earlier iOS versions. A new “Travel Cards” section on the app stores mobile boarding pass info, as well as MileagePlus card, United Club card and other frequently-used information that customers can display on the home screen and swipe through. A “Travel Wallet” section holds other relevant information, including upcoming reservations and flight status notifications.

The app also enables customers to view seat maps more easily, purchase a variety of customized travel options for flights and book award travel on multiple segments. Users can also track a flight’s status and view MileagePlus information.

The new and updated app comes in the wake of United’s redesign of its airport check-in kiosk screens, a task completed in October. Later this year, the carrier said it will release a beta version of its completely-revamped website.

In addition, the Chicago-based carrier said in the coming months it would launch an all-new app for the Android operating platform KitKat. Earlier this year United updated apps for Windows 8 and Blackberry 10.
